Flower and Garden

"A garden is evidence of faith. It links us with all the misty figures of the past who also planted and were nourished by the fruits of their planting"
Gladys Taber

"Of all the wonderful things in the wonderful universe of God, nothing seems to me more surprising than the planting of a seed in the blank earth and the result thereof."
Juliie Moir Messervy

We hope you enjoy our site. It was constructed by gardeners for gardeners and we welcome any comments from you, good or bad.

Be kind with any bad stuff though because we're only a bunch of guys (OK.....and girls) trying to put something back into the system that gave us all so much.

We at Flower and Garden believe that God gave us gardening to help reduce tension and stress.Take a good look into the eyes of an avid gardener and you can see peace, serenity and a general satisfaction with his or her lot. All we Good Working Tools Make for Good Workwant to do here is to offer help, advice and tips. If you have any questions we will gladly put them to our panel of 'Experts' before they go to the pub. After that nothing makes sense unless you're with us at the time.

Send us a photo of all or part of your garden and every week we'll select what we think is the best and show it on one of our pages (and mention your name if you want.) Every month we'll select what we consider the best and show it on our home page. if you say it's your garden, we'll believe you of course.

Tom Malkovich

Here's one on the right from Tom Markovich in Surrey. Is yours as nice or nicer?

Tom insists that it's actually only a very basic garden currently with an old tarmac drive and path but he has planned to have the drive and paths overlayed with something called 'Resin Bonded'. Apart from the aesthetics, he's going for this specific product because there's no upheaval.

No need to dig up the existing drive as there is for block paving and pattern imprinted concrete product. We've seen both of those types of drive in our travels and noted that the weeds and moss eventually comes though on the blocks as well as oil staines and the concrete ones crack in places.

They chose something to suit the property, something that looks like a gravel path but the gravel stones are set in a resin and won't come loose. Apparantly it ends up even stronger than concrete. I'm also told that there are many stone patterns to choose from.

I had a look on the internet and found the firm that were doing it for them called to ask if I could do a bit of a review of the product. They gave me some addresses to look over and I must say, they looked good. Not all the residents would agree to let me take photos but one or two did so I did a page on the product for our readers in case they're interested.

If you want to take a look go to the Resin Bonded Driveway page here.
